“What can I say? I like playing with my food.” Universal has revealed the official trailer for a horror movie called Abigail, a sneaky new vampire thriller arriving in theaters this April. It was listed as untitled for a long time on the schedule, also known as Abducting Abigail, now we have a final title and trailer and release date. From Radio Silence—the directing team of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett behind the terrifying modern horror hits Ready or Not, 2022’s Scream and last year’s Scream VI—comes a brash, blood-thirsty new vision of the vampire flick. After a group of criminals kidnap the young ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure, they retreat to an isolated mansion, unaware that they’re locked inside with no normal little girl. One by one they begin to realize this will be there last night. Abigail stars Melissa Barrera, Dan Stevens, Kathryn Newton, William Catlett, Kevin Durand, and Angus Cloud as the kidnappers, featuring Alisha Weir (from Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical) as Abigail. This looks like it’s this year’s M3gan, a brutal horror comedy featuring a freaky girl taking out all the bad guys. Bring it on! Looks like fun.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Radio Silence’s Abigail, direct from Universal’s YouTube:
Children can be such monsters. After a group of would-be criminals kidnap the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure, all they have to do to collect a $50 million ransom is watch the girl overnight. In an isolated mansion, the captors start to dwindle, one by one, and they discover, to their mounting horror, that they’re locked inside with no normal little girl. Abigail, also known as Abducting Abigail, is co-directed by filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett (also known as “Radio Silence“), directors of the films Devil’s Due, Ready or Not, Scream 5 and Scream 6, and many short films, plus segments in anthology horror V/H/S & Southbound. The screenplay is written by Stephen Shields (The Hole in the Ground, Zombie Bashers) and Guy Busick (Scream franchise, Ready or Not). Produced by William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, James Vanderbilt, Tripp Vinson, Chad Villella. Universal will debut Radio Silence’s Abigail in theaters everywhere starting April 19th, 2024 this spring.
