“We’ve got ourselves a Texas-sized showdown!” Well Go USA has revealed an official trailer for an indie thriller titled Ride, marking the feature directorial debut of Texas actor Jake Allyn. This is set to open in theaters and on VOD together in June this summer. Three generations of bull riders fight to raise money to transfer the family’s young daughter to a better cancer hospital. Set in Stephenville TX, Ride explores rodeo, addiction in the Heartland, and the cowboy’s place in modern America. A retired bull rider teams up to pull off a bank robbery, but when the heist goes wrong they end up on the run from police. Starring C. Thomas Howell as John Hawkins, with a cast including Annabeth Gish, Jake Allyn, Patrick Murney, Josh Plasse, Laci Kaye Booth, Scott Reeves, with Zia Carlock and Forrie J. Smith as Al. This looks solid, a very Texas film about the struggle to hold on tight when life starts bucking like wild. Just like riding a bull.
Here’s the official trailer for Jake Allyn’s film Ride, direct from Well Go’s YouTube:
Desperate to raise more money for his daughter’s cancer treatment, a retired bull rider (Forrie J. Smith) teams up with his estranged son and resorts to robbery to secure payment before time runs out. But after the heist goes awry, keeping the money—and their freedom—requires the duo to outwit a dogged pair of local law enforcement officers, including a justice-minded sheriff who soon suspects that the key to her case may lie uncomfortably close to home. Ride is directed by the American actor / filmmaker Jake Allyn, making his feature directorial debut after writing a few other scripts (including No Man’s Land) previously. The screenplay is by Jake Allyn & Josh Plasse. Produced by Jake Allyn, Conor Allyn, Rob Allyn, Don Lepore, Josh Plasse, Keith J. Leman. This hasn’t premiered at any festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Well Go USA will debut Jake Allyn’s Ride in select US theaters + on VOD starting June 14th, 2024 in the summer.
