Every year, cinephiles wake up early for the announcement from France of the films playing at the Cannes Film Festival. For the 77th Cannes Film Festival taking place this May, they have revealed a worldwide selection of intriguing new films, featuring new works from well-established filmmakers (the usual for this festival), as well as some first-timers. Cannes is continuing in its usual spot in late May, running from May 14th to 25th, kicking things off with George Miller’s highly anticipated Furiosa. Just over a month until the fest opens. The selection last year included a number of major films that went on to impact cinema after Cannes – including Killers of the Flower Moon, Robot Dreams, The Zone of Interest, Anatomy of a Fall, La Chimera, The Taste of Things. This year I’m excited to watch Anora, Kinds of Kindness, The Substance, The Surfer, The Shrouds, Megalopolis, and many others. The current tally is 54 films (for now) in the line-up. As usual, a few last minute additions will be added – we’ll update later. View the full list of 2024 films below.
Here’s the complete selection of 2024 films directly from Cannes, including the director for easy reference.

So that’s the line-up for Cannes 2024, with likely a few others to be added in the next few weeks (the list above will automatically be updated with ALL of the official 2024 films as they’re revealed). Artistic Director Thierry Frémaux said that there are perhaps around 10 more films not confirmed yet, with more to come in the next few weeks before the festival begins. Can’t wait to start watching! As usual, I’m curious to see which films will be the big surprises, which ones will leave a lasting impression. Before the festival last year, I don’t think anyone could’ve predicted that Anatomy of a Fall or The Zone of Interest would go on to win Oscars. But they did! This is what makes this so exciting! With all the other films, keep an eye out for buzz beginning over the next few weeks leading up to the festival. As always – I’m looking forward to getting back onto the sunny Croisette in May so that we can start screening films in hopes that we’re all blown away by some of these in the line-up. The 2024 Cannes Film Festival runs from May 14th to May 25th in Cannes, France. We’ll be back again to publish reviews + more coverage. Which of these are you most excited about?
