“You don’t have to be afraid… This child is His way.” 20th Century has revealed the first official trailer for The First Omen, short and sweet (and spooky) at barely over 60 seconds long. It’s not a teaser, just a very clever trailer. This technically is a prequel to The Omen, the 2006 horror film about a boy who might in fact be the Devil incarnate. In this film, a young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, but encounters a darkness that causes her to question her faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate. Starring Nell Tiger Free, Tawfeek Barhom, Sonia Braga, Nicole Sorace, and Bill Nighy, with Ralph Ineson as Father Brennan. I really dig the playing-in-reverse gimmick of this trailer, it’s unique and freaky and gets your attention. “Witness the birth of evil.”
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Arkasha Stevenson’s The First Omen, direct from YouTube:
“Create something to fear.” When a young American woman (Nell Tiger Free) is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, she encounters a darkness that soon causes her to question her own faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate. The First Omen is directed by up-and-coming filmmaker Arkasha Stevenson, making her feature directorial debut after numerous short films previously, and work on the TV series “Channel Zero”, “Legion”, “Briarpatch”, and “Brand New Cherry Flavor” most recently. The screenplay is written by Tim Smith, Arkasha Stevenson, and Keith Thomas; from a story by Ben Jacoby. Based on the characters originally created by David Seltzer for The Omen (2006). Produced by David S. Goyer and Keith Levine. 20th Century will debut The First Omen in theaters nationwide starting on April 5th, 2024 early this spring. Look any good? Who’s scared already?
