“Danger! Microbial hazard!” Raven Banner has unveiled an early teaser trailer for Black Mold, an indie horror film from filmmaker John Pata. This first premiered at Panic Fest 2023 earlier in the year, and is also playing at FrightFest in the UK coming up soon. While exploring a decrepit and abandoned facility, an auspicious photographer faces off against her traumatic past. Brooke and her friend Tanner end up trapped inside of the old facility by a “volatile threat” – the longer their attacker keeps them in there, the more it becomes clear there’s something else profoundly wrong with the place… The film stars Agnes Albright, Andrew Bailes, Caito Aase, Maisie Merlock, and Jeremy Holm. FrightFest says this “introduces the pitfalls of urban exploration with hallucinogenic psychological horror.” All the gross mold is freaky enough.
Here’s the first official trailer (+ poster) for John Pata’s Black Mold, from Raven Banner’s YouTube:
Photographer Brooke (Agnes Albright) and her pal Tanner (Andrew Bailes) sneak into abandoned, off-limits buildings for the sake of their art and also the adrenaline rush. But when the daredevil pair break into their holy grail – Franklin Hill, a large facility with a history – they soon encounter a dangerously paranoid squatter (Jeremy Holm) who holds them captive. The longer their attacker keeps them there, the more it becomes clear there’s something else profoundly wrong with the place as dangers surface at the intersection of artistic pursuits and internal sabotage. Black Mold is written and directed by American genre writer / producer / filmmaker John Pata, owner of Head Trauma Productions, and director of the film Dead Weight and a few other shorts previously. Produced by Sarah Sharp, Jennifer Shelby, and Robert Patrick Stern. This initially premiered at Panic Fest 2023 earlier this year. Raven Banner will debut Pata’s Black Mold in select US theaters + on VOD later in 2023 – stay tuned for an exact date. Look scary or not?
