“The past cannot be changed. The future is yet in your power.” Control your own destiny. We have officially launched our 2025 Release Schedule page (being added to the button bar once we land safely in the New Year), featuring listings throughout the year 2025 now that we’re days away from sliding into 2024. This is our annual release update, to keep everyone informed about release dates in 2024 and 2025 looking ahead. We always launch the next calendar at the end of each year, and only update the release schedules two years out as it gets seriously sketchy beyond that. (Who knows what lies ahead for Hollywood…?) Back in 2021, we announced that schedules now include complete listings of VOD/streaming releases, with a clear indicator of which films will be opening in theaters versus streaming or VOD. We continue to focus on and highlight theatrical releases above all, with the original theatrical opening being the main date listed on the calendars.
For all the latest release dates for upcoming movies, visit our FirstShowing calendars for: 2024 and 2025.
With Hollywood still in complete disarray following the two big strikes of 2023 and the pandemic, the dates currently set for 2025 are rather limited. There’s more sequels, some of which have been moved from 2024 to 2025 to give them more time to finish them: Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World directed by Julius Onah is now set for February 14th, 2025, Disney’s Snow White with Rachel Zegler is now set for March 21st, 2025, and the delayed release of Pixar’s sci-fi Elio is now set for June 13th, 2025 in the summer. The summer line-up also includes Marvel’s Fantastic Four on May 2nd, Tom Cruise’s delayed Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two on May 23rd, Derrickson’s sequel The Black Phone 2 on June 27th, James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy for DC (which hasn’t even started filming yet) on July 11th. Autumn’s movies include Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II set for October 3rd, Marvel’s Blade (if it happens) on November 7th, and James Cameron’s long-awaited next sequel Avatar 3 hitting December 19th, which was also supposed to be out in 2024 but was held back for an extra year. That’s all that is on there for now – keep watch for updates as Hollywood develops and finalizes production schedules.
For those following closely – we’re continuing to develop new features for the iconic FirstShowing schedules, including possible sorting options, as well as an “events” calendar with listings for major movie events and festivals. Stay tuned, follow for news, and keep clicking. Thank you for all your support – it keeps us going.
