“That’s not Timmy… Something’s talking through him.” Paramount Plus has revealed an official trailer for the direct-to-streaming horror film Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, which is actually a prequel to the famous Pet Sematary book by Stephen King. It has been adapted into movies twice before: originally back in 1989 (the better movie), then again for the 2019 Pet Sematary flick from Paramount. They’re trying to keep this horror series alive! Set in 1969, before the events of the previous film, the plot follows a young Jud Crandall about to leave Ludlow, Maine, when he discovers a local cemetery where everything dead can be alive again, without imagining the horror that will affect his life. Pet Sematary: Bloodlines stars Jackson White, Forrest Goodluck, Jack Mulhern, Henry Thomas, Natalie Alyn Lind, Isabella Star LaBlanc, Samantha Mathis, Pam Grier, and David Duchovny. This looks like a generic direct-to-video sequel, a shame because the original story is scary – this doesn’t look like it’ll be anything different or new… Oh well.
Here’s the official trailer (+ poster) for Lindsey Anderson Beer’s Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, on YouTube:
In 1969, a young Jud Crandall has dreams of leaving his hometown of Ludlow, Maine behind, but soon discovers sinister secrets buried within and is forced to confront a dark family history that will forever keep him connected to Ludlow. Banding together, Jud and his childhood friends must fight an ancient evil that has gripped Ludlow since its founding, and once unearthed has the power to destroy everything in its path. Pet Sematary: Bloodlines is directed by newcomer filmmaker Lindsey Anderson Beer, making her feature directorial debut with this film, after writing the screenplay for Sierra Burgess Is a Loser previously. The screenplay is written by Lindsey Anderson Beer along with Jeff Buhler (The Midnight Meat Train, The Prodigy, Pet Sematary, Jacob’s Ladder, Studio 666). Based on the novel “Pet Sematary” written by Stephen King. It’s produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian. Paramount will debut Pet Sematary: Bloodlines streaming on Paramount+ starting on October 6th, 2023 coming up this fall. Want to watch?
